Hi guyz,

I am planning to put a Subwoofer in, my 2004 BMW coupe, rear armrest. I wonder if you guyz can answer the following questions.

1) How hard is it really to knock-out the Ski-pass metal board?

2) I went to the local audio shop and the guy said that its not worth doing it because apparently he did it to one of his customer and the interior car carpet started coming off and it rattled a lot. Is he saying this because 1. he doesn't want to do it to my car or 2. he doesn't know how to do it?
Question is what's the worst could happen?

3) Please recommend me the decent sub - not too loud but nice and subtle bass..

Many thanks in advance

Mine isn't complete, and mine isn't a ski pass mounted enclosure.

Mine is a sealed box that will be firing through the hole, not mounted to it.

I just showing you what the hole looks like with the plate removed.

Search the forum for kicker L5 or kicker L7 to see examples of ppl who have completed it.

1. I had a Dremel tool, so it was easy.
2. I've had mine out for years and the carpet is fine. Rattle noise is possible. I fixed mine by applying Fatmat around the trunk. What it does is it adds mass to the thin metal so the resonant frequency of the thin metal gets pushed down I believe, it works on small rattles. The rear shelf will also rattle, I fixed that by sealing all the holes going through the top shelf with Fatmat. If you're not listening to music too loud I doubt you'll notice any rattles.
