Would lawyer-up; the documentation is all over the site! Either way, good luck with your plans and hope you get it worked out.

if it turns out to be an extensive fix, lawyer up and take this guy for all you can get. I wouldn't tolerate bs like this and if you've got strong proof to back you up, why settle for being f'd over?

Agree. Private party car buying is always "as is", however Id wager what he did would amount to some level of fraud.

He had too refund all the money or pay for the repair

In a as-is sale.. You have to Tell any known issues... Other wise "As-is" is not valid

Wow, sorry to hear about your issue, I am trying to sell my AA kit right now and it scares me that something could go wrong and I would look like the bad guy who sold the kit.

it's a little different when you're selling a used kit. as long as you disclose all the info -- if it was running properly at the time of the uninstall, maintenance records, any components replaced - you should be fine. there's a general assumption of some risk involved with used parts - that's why they're priced lower than new. some components will have wear. a buyer will have to get the kit installed anyway and replace things them. they will also have to have it properly tuned.
in my situation, it's different. when i bought the car, the seller said it was running fine; the supercharger was functioning properly and it's had a proper tune. there are too many variables involved with mine. Last edited by xphiledan; 06-22-2012 at 09:50 AM. |

When this is all said and done (without spending a fortune), this will be an amusing story to tell.
...but you pretty much summed it up right there Dropped off the car with Mike yesterday. Was getting nervous as I saw the temp climb from 77 to 86. Luckily the car decided to co-operate on the drive down. When he gets to it next week, I'll post any updates. He was suggesting that if the AA kit was done for, I do a nice Techniques Tuning Turbo kit. http://www.techniquetuning.com/bmw-e...st2-turbo.html hmm... 375 rwhp... If you were in CA, I would lend you a hand. I have INPA and I can look at what the o2's are doing see why your car is acting up. A technique tuning turbo kit would be nice but you can fab your own too.

talked to Maximum PSI on the phone today. it appears to be a software issue. they're currently working with Active Autowerke to dial in the tune.

Yes! Updates please. I HATE to see things like this happen. The seller should be drawn and quartered for fraud!
I pray the new owner has an inexpensive fix and can look back on this and laugh.
